April 21-27, 2019
Sunday:
Sunday was Easter. The boys asked that their Easter surprises be hidden so they could do a treasure hunt. They read the clues to figure out where their baskets were and were thrilled to find nerf guns, video games, and some magic tricks and puzzles. Scavenger hunts are a great way to practice literacy skills! We had a nice morning together and then headed down to Georgia for Easter dinner with my parents. Funny enough, I took several videos of the scavenger hunt, but have no other pictures of that day! Sigh. Easter this year was sort of a flop- no fancy clothes, no church, no pictures!
Saturday:
On Saturday, the boys have a birthday party to attend and then they were dropped off at their friends house for a play date and sleepover. Ryan and I enjoyed an afternoon with just Salem and an evening with only Salem and Rory. The big kids had a blast, as usual, with their friends.

Monday:
Monday was The Blessing Place and errands as usual. No Cub Scouts that evening though! No more Cub Scouts until the fall. Dexter did make some pretty epic Lego creations though.
Tuesday:
We spent Tuesday strawberry picking with our friends at the farm. We picked strawberries and then enjoyed snacks and each other's company in the shade before heading home. I am sure there is some way I could quantify the value of seasonal fruit-picking as an educational goal, but I can't bring myself to reduce the magic of it. The freedom to spend a spring day picking strawberries for the joy of it is exactly why I love homeschooling!

Wednesday:
On Wednesday, Liam continued to work on some video editing, while Dexter built a 3D puzzle of a bee with me and then watched a documentary about butterflies. Our caterpillars had fully transformed into their next stage of life and we wanted to learn more about it. Later, Liam too wanted to see the documentary so we ended up watching it twice. We then transferred the chyrisalis' to the butterfly habitat. When we did, they started shaking like crazy and scared us all! But they transfered just fine in the end.

That evening, Liam spent some time in bed with this rabbit before we started on the last of the "Fudge" series by Judy Blume. Liam continues to read Harry Potter with his dad some evenings and this series with me other evenings but I suppose we will have to find something else to read together once we are done with "Double Fudge!"
Thursday:
On Thursday, Liam spent the day at home with his dad- he read the new Dogman book and then completed some math worksheets before spending the day enjoying the new Spiderman video game they received for Easter. Dex and Salem joined me and some friends for brunch. The kids played outsdie for awhile, ate some breakfast, and, at one point, Dexter pulled out his United States puzzle and they worked on that all together. He then went home to join Liam with the video games while I went to the gym.

Friday:
Friday was another weird day that I barely got any pictures of and barely remember! The boys' grandmother, great grandmother and great-aunt came over in the afternoon to watch them so Ryan and I could go see the new Avengers movie. We had a full day before that but I just did not document it... besides this one pictures of these two reading together on the couch:
